Education

Currently a 3rd year student at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, USA. Completed Bilingual International Baccalaureate Diploma in English and Spanish at United World College of the USA, Montezuma, New Mexico, USA.

Experience

My interest in teaching has its roots in my family history where, as the first-born of my generation, I had to help my cousins and siblings with schoolwork a lot. I can fluently write and speak in Spanish because I was born in Venezuela and lived there until I was 17 years old (and I still use Spanish in many forms every day). I currently attend an American university so I am also proficient in English, written or spoken. I have tutored formally since high-school, where I taught music at a local school. My most recent formal tutoring experience was as a volunteer for five weeks in May-June 2014 at Prairie Creek Community School where I worked with 4th and 5th graders. My primary areas of tutoring are Spanish, English and philosophy. I attend a liberal arts college with a heavy focus in critical thinking, reading and writing. Therefore, I can help you with anything from working on your basic language skills to working on rhetorical and stylistic features that you want to improve on. As pertains philosophy, I recently won the Ringstad philosophy prize for the Freshman/Sophomore category at St. Olaf College. I was also chosen as a PIKSI philosophy scholar at Pennsylvania State University this summer. If you would like to work with me, you can count on having a responsible and enthusiastic tutor who does not care what age you are, and who will be as excited about what you are learning as you are. I believe that curiosity can take you a long way in learning useful skills, and that the most effective learning happens when you make the subject enjoyable and meaningful.

Hobbies

I spend lots of time reading and particularly enjoy reading philosophy but I also think Latin-American literature is especially great. I have a passion for music and currently play violin with Lyngby-Taarbæk Symfoniorkester. I went to an international school with people from 75+ different countries so I am interested in multicultural affairs and looking at things from different perspectives.
